After numerous spy photos and videos, Jeep India has finally released the Meridian 7-seater SUV in India. We haven’t been able to run the all-new Jeep Compass yet, but several official videos of the upcoming 7-seater SUV are already available online. The Jeep will compete with SUVs like Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq in the Meridian segment. Here we have a video that shares details about the upcoming SUV. The video talks about the exterior design and interior features.
The video was uploaded by Power Racer to their YouTube channel. In this video, Vlogger shows the official video shared by Zip for the brand new Meridian and talks about the features. As we all know, Jeep is based on Meridian Compass which was the first Made in India product of Jeep India. It was a successful product at launch and received an update last year.
The Jeep Meridian is a seven-seater SUV 4,769 mm long, 1,859 mm wide and 1,682 mm long. The Meridian is certainly longer and wider than the Jeep Compass because it has a third row seat. The design of the upcoming Jeep Meridian is actually similar to the Jeep Compass. It has got Jeep’s signature seven slat front grille with chrome outline. Smooth headlamp units have been installed as an extension of the grille. The headlamps come with all LED units and integrated LED DRL. The bumper looks muscular and comes with a chrome strip that runs across the bumper. The LED fog lamp is placed just below it. Another chrome strip is placed at the bottom of the bumper.
Coming to the side profile, the sporty look has 18-inch alloy wheels. The wheel design is different from the wheels seen in the Jeep Compass. The meridian badge can be seen at the bottom of the front door. The length of the SUV is clearly visible from the side profile. As we move to the rear the car gets a huge design from the rear. The car gets a very smooth tail lamp design with a wrap around split LED tail lamp. There is a chrome strip running between the tail lamps which gives it a premium look.
Coming to the cabin, the Jeep Meridian Jeep has almost the same design as the Compass Facelift. The AC vent in the Jeep Meridian, the steering wheel is similar to the unit seen in the Jeep Compass. The theme of the cabin, however, is different from the compass. It gets a black and brown theme which gives a much more premium look. The SUV gets a large floating type touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The car also offers a complete digital materials cluster like the one seen on the Compass. Other features of the Meridian include dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, front ventilation seats, attached car features and more.
Unlike some of its competitors, the Jeep is only offering the Meridian SUV with a diesel engine at launch. It will be a 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel engine that is expected to generate 170 Ps and 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be offered with a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed automatic transmission. The engine will be offered with 2WD and AWD options. A petrol engine is expected to be added in the future.
