Volkswagen India launched their compact SUV Taigun in the market last year. This is the first product to be launched under Volkswagen’s India 2.0 strategy. Delivery for the Volkswagen Taigun has already begun, and the car has been seen on the road several times. Volkswagen competes with cars such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Skoda Kushaq in the Taigun segment. Volkswagen Taigun starts at Rs 10.49 lakh, ex-showroom Volkswagen has now unveiled a new TVC for the compact SUV.
The video was shared by Volkswagen India on their YouTube channel. The new TVC features Ali Fazal who has become popular among viewers for his performances in various movies and web series. At the Volkswagen 2020 Auto Expo, the almost ready model of the Taigun was unveiled to the public. The SUV is based on the same platform Kushaq, Slavia and the upcoming Virtus. The MQB A0-IN platform as we know it has changed for Indian conditions.

The Volkswagen Taigun has a design similar to other cars in the family. Lots of straight lines that give it a boxy design and a premium look. The front of the car has a Volkswagen grille which acts as a part of the front grille and extends to meet the headlamps. The top-end version has LED headlamps. A decent amount of chrome is seen on the grille and bumper. The Volkswagen Taigun comes with a muscular but premium looking bumper and integrated fog lamps.
Coming to the side profile, the Taigun has dual tone alloy wheels and a thick black cladding can be seen around the underside of the car. The highlight of Taigun’s design, however, is the back. It gets a very distinctive looking back design. It looks muscular and futuristic. There is a split LED tail lamp. Attached to these LED tail lamps is a reflective LED bar that runs across the tail gate. The tail gate has Taigun branding and the Volkswagen logo can also be seen here. A chrome garnish can also be seen on the rear bumper.
Running, Volkswagen is offering a decent number of features. Top-end variants of the Taigun include a full digital instrument cluster, multi-function steering wheel, electric sunroof, wireless phone charger, touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Wireless. The Taigun features automatic climate control, cruise control, leather upholstery, ventilated seats, and more.
Volkswagen Taigun is offered only with petrol engine options. The SUV has two engines. The first is a 1.0 liter turbocharged petrol engine that generates 115 Ps and 178 Nm of peak torque. It is available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The next engine option is a 1.5 liter turbo petrol engine that generates 150 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque. This engine is available with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG transmission. Under the Dynamic variant, the 1.0 liter engine is offered in Comfortline, Highline and Topline trim. The 1.5-liter engine versions come under the performance line and are distinguished by a GT badge on the grille.
