According to Evo India, Toyota will launch their flagship SUV, the Land Cruiser, in India. This is the LC300 generation of Land Cruiser. Bookings for the upcoming SUV opened quietly in February, and delivery of the Land Cruiser LC300 is expected to begin in August. The amount of bookings has not been disclosed and Toyota is no longer accepting bookings because the semiconductor shortage problem is currently facing the world.
According to reports, Toyota dealership is accepting bookings for the diesel V6 engine. It is a twin-turbo diesel engine with a capacity of 3.3 liters. It produces 305 hp of maximum power and 700 Nm of peak torque. It is only combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
In the global market, the Land Cruiser LC300 is offered with a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 415 bhp and a maximum torque output of 650 Nm. It is combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission. With this engine, LC300 can reach 100 kmph speed in 6.7 seconds.
Toyota is no longer offering the legendary 5.7-liter V8 engine. In addition, they are working on a more affordable V6 engine that will be a naturally ambitious unit. It will be combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It will not be available in all countries but it will reduce the starting price of SUV. So far, we do not know whether any petrol engine will make its way to India. Not only are the new engines more powerful, they also produce more fuel-efficient and 10 percent less carbon dioxide emissions.
The LC300 Land Cruiser is based on the GA-F platform, a derivative of the TNGA or Toyota New Global Architecture platform. It’s still a ladder-on-frame chassis but Toyota has made some improvements. In addition, Toyota is now using high strength steel in various places to improve toughness and for suspension, they have used aluminum. The weight of the SUV has been reduced by 200 kg which is much more. The center of gravity has also been reduced which is also good for the ride and quality of the LC300.
The LC300 is still a Land Cruiser at the end so it comes with lots of off-roading equipment. It gets a 4 × 4 system as standard. There is an adaptive variable suspension with an electronically controlled kinetic dynamic suspension stabilization system. You’ll also find a multi-terrain monitor that now has an underbody camera and a multi-terrain select that comes with Auto and Deep Snow modes. Toyota has also improved wheel articulation and craw control systems.
Toyota LC has also introduced 300 GR Sport in the global market. This is basically a more road-focused version of the Land Cruiser LC300. It gets the addition of front and rear locking differential and E-KDSS as standard which is the latest generation of Kinetic’s clever suspension system.
