Top Gear has created its own specific annual award for the best electric car on the market. As EVs become more popular, it’s important to know which of them are the best and, more specifically, which ones are the best, to help consumers know which EVs they want to see. At this year’s Top Gear Electric Awards, BMW’s two EVs; BMW iX and i4; Prizes are awarded.

During a recent test, the BMW IX picked up the Top Gear Best Luxury EV award for being a better luxury EV than the Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan. If a car is essentially an S-Class that can knock out a luxury test, it is a damn fine luxury car. According to TG, the iX has a nice interior, a combination of pillow rides and technology that is helpful but not too much on your face, making it one of the best luxury EVs you can buy right now.

Subsequently, the BMW i4 TG won the Best Electric Exx award. Looks like the BMW i4 gets compliments for everything used to get compliments for the 3 Series; Sharp driving mobility and powertrain, a simple but handsome and well made cabin and a silky smooth powertrain. The only complaint is that it doesn’t sound like a classic straight-six. Although, I can think of another complaint but I will let you figure it out yourself.

Okay, so I might have buried the lead a little. In addition to the some award-winning BMW iX and i4 from Top Gear, another electric BMW has received a bigger, more important award. The BMW i3 is awarded an EV Lifetime Achievement Award. It’s nice to see the i3 get some recognition and, while TG explains that the i3 is still much wider and lighter than the much newer Honda E, you realize that the weird little Bimmer was really ahead of its time.
