The 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler introduces a more accessible off-road truck.

Ford 2023 has launched a new Ratler package for the Ford F-150 pickup truck that bridges the gap between the base XL truck and the FX4 off-road variant, the company announced Tuesday. Adding another package option to America’s best-selling car, Ford simplifies the most configurable car on the market with a bundle of popular features.

Made from the Base XL truck, the Rattler FX4 takes some off-road gear, including a skid plate, an electronic locking rear differential, heel descent control, off-road shock and standard four-wheel drive. All-terrain tires wrap around 18-inch wheels, and flex the rear of dual exhaust pipes. Rattlesnake graphics cover fender vents and badges, and copper accents tweak the interior.

Features that are present in the FX4 but not mentioned in the rattler include the floor liner and a rock crawl mode.

Ford did not specify the options for the Powertrain, but the FX4 package of the Base XL requires upgrading from a 3.3-liter V-6 to a 2.7-liter turbocharged V-6, as well as the XL High package. Ford has confirmed that the rotator will be extended and offered in the crew cab configuration, but the regular cab will not be rotated.

The 2022 Ford F-150 is offered in eight trim levels, including the Trimmer and Raptor off-road models. F-150 Raptor Tips $ 70,000.

The 2022 F-150 XL with a regular cab starts at 31,685, including $ 1,659 for destination. The FX4 package with 4WD and 325-hp Turbo V-6 costs $ 39,860. We expect Ford to split the difference with the price of the Rutler, which will be sold this fall.
