The Chevy 2022 Silverado 1500 purchase process is more complicated than the usual configuration and options. The dealer lot will sell two trucks, both 2022 models, one with inside and outside updates, and the other will carry unchanged from 2021.
The Cariover 2022 Silverado 1500 will be the same truck launched in 2019, but despite having different trim levels it is now known as the LTD model. The other 2022 Silverado 1500s will be updated trucks priced at more than the ve 2,100 base Silverado LTD.
I spent a week tackling the winter weather in Minnesota with the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTD LT Trailboss. With a TCC rating of 5.2 out of 10, the old Silverrado reminded me of the good and the bad, before the refreshed model finally replaces all LTDs in the dealer lot. Here’s what I learned.

Hit: Crazy 6-way tailgate
GM moved the 6-way power tailgate to the Silverado lineup in 2021 and is an attractive alternative for 445. Admittedly this is limited to overkill, but I appreciate the over-engineering concept because you can do it. Thank you, GM. There are six different ways to configure the tailgate to extend the length of the bed, folding in three different places, working as a bed stop or creating a two-step access to the bed, among other tasks. It has the highest configuration of any tailgate on the market. Whether this is necessary is debatable, but it is impressive.

Miss: Interior
It is amazing that the current Silverrado was recently launched in 2019. The interior behind what is found in the Ford F-150 and RAM 1500 looks like a whole generation, the next one being redesigned for 2019. The plastics don’t look tough and granular. The touchscreen is only 8.0 inches and can’t display multitask or split-screen views. Leather seats seem cheap, and the whole interior is a dark place with only a few bits of plastic chrome bright work. Pictures of the updated 2022 Silverado 1500 reveal a seemingly beautiful interior.

Hit: Smooth V-8 power
My LTD LT Trailboss Silverado was powered by optional 6.2-liter V-8 and 460 lb-ft torque rated 420 hp for an extra 49 2,495. It is paired with a slick-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission that does not have the same low-gear shift hiccups found in some Ford F-150 models. This is not a fancy motor. It lacks a turbocharger and a hybrid system. But it sounds gross, great and very happy when pushed or pushed. This engine will carry in refresh. Chevy has not confirmed whether the power rating will remain the same, although we hope they will.

Miss: Drinking gas
While the larger V-8 looks smooth and great, it’s thirsty with 13 mpg CT, 17 highways and 14 combined EPA ratings. Outside temperatures were below freezing and the truck was of no use. The onboard trip computer indicates an average of 13.9 mpg during 150 miles of mixed suburban driving. Refreshed trucks may be a bit more efficient, but don’t expect huge profits.

Hit: Ideal receiver setup
The Silverrado rear towing setup is more ideal than the Ford F-150 and it comes down to a single thing: the position of the safety chain hookup. The current Silverado 1500’s security chain hookups are mounted near the receiver opening and are easily accessible and mounted horizontally. The F-150’s hookups are mounted about five inches behind the receiver opening, placed under the bumper.

Miss: Even Chevrolet agrees, there should be safety standards
Added the $ 3,860 LT Trailboss premium package to my tester, among a long list of other things, rear cross-traffic alerts and lane change alerts. But the $ 61,625 truck lacked automatic emergency braking. This is a red flag in our book. Each refreshed 2022 Silverrado model will come standard with pedestrian detection, active lane control and lane-exit warning with automatic emergency braking.
The refreshed 2022 Silverado 1500 seems to be on paper to correct many errors of the current model. Make a note and before you sign in to the dotted line, be sure to know which 2022 Silverado 1500 you want and which one you are actually looking at.
