Maruti Suzuki starts working on marketing plan for Jimny

Rumors of Maruti Suzuki launching Jimny in the Indian market have been circulating for years. It seems that Maruti has finally decided that they will bring SUV in our country. Earlier, there were rumors that Maruti Suzuki was currently working on a pre-launch system for the Jimny launch. Well, now Shashank Srivastava, executive director of sales and marketing at Maruti Suzuki, has confirmed that they are working on Jimny’s marketing plan.

He said this in an interview given to Business Today TV. He further revealed that Maruti Suzuki is currently taking market feedback and evaluating market plans. He said the option of taking Jimny to India was being considered. The company has taken market responses and is currently evaluating the market plan. The move comes at a time when Maruti Suzuki is aggressively seeking to enter the SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) segment. The share of the SUV segment in the Indian car market has risen from 32 per cent to 40 per cent, but Maruti Suzuki has only two cars in the segment – the Breza and the S-Cross. However, there are a total of 46 SUVs in the industry. The SUV segment needs to be revisited. “

In fact, Suzuki is already building a gymnasium at their Gurugram facility. They are three door models that are being produced for export purposes only. Moreover, they are left-hand drive models. The Jimny is popular all over the world, which is why it is in great demand and Suzuki is having a hard time meeting the demand.

Moreover, Maruti Suzuki will make some market-specific changes to meet the demand of our country. For example, they are considering selling a 5-door version of Jimny in India because of its small size, three-door Jimny is not practical at all.

For this, the wheelbase of Suzuki Jimny will increase by 300 mm which means the length will increase from 3,550 mm to 3,850 mm and the wheelbase will increase from 2,250 mm to 2,550 mm. The wheelbase has been extended to include the rear set of doors. This makes it easier for rear occupants to get in or out. In a 3-door gymnasium, the rear occupants have to slide the front seat to the front and then get into the back seat which is a bit cumbersome. There will also be a rear legroom.

So far, the Jimny has been offered with a 1.5-liter, naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 102 PS of maximum power and 130 Nm of peak torque. This is combined with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It comes with a 4 × 4 drivetrain as standard.

However, Maruti Suzuki has recently teased the new Ertiga Facelift which comes with a new 1.5-liter dualjet VVT petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 115 PS. This is combined with a new 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. We hope that Maruti Suzuki will use new engine and transmission for Jimny. That said, so far nothing has been confirmed.
