On Wednesday, Jeep unveiled two new variants of its Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer full-size SUVs that further expanded its largest vehicle. Debuting at the 2022 New York International Auto Show, the 2023 Wagoneer L and Grand Wagoneer L three-row SUVs make the body-on-frame body one foot longer for more cargo room. Although larger, both L models will replace the V-8 found in standard models with a new, smaller inline 6-cylinder powertrain.
The L models measure 226.7 inches long with a 130.0-inch wheelbase, increasing by 12.0 inches and 7.0 inches, respectively. It is a full inch longer than the 2022 Chevy suburb. The Wagoneer L and Grand Wagoneer L also got significant frame changes, a new rear tub and new loaded floor.

This expands the cargo room at the back of the third row to 44.2 cubic feet (15.8 cubic feet more than the standard model) and gives the owners much more flexibility to carry luggage and cargo when carrying five or more passengers. The second row now has 88.8 cubic feet of cargo space at the back, and folding in the second row increases it to 130.9 cubic feet, which is large enough to fit a 4×8 sheet of plywood. The second- and third-row legrooms still measure the same, 42.7 inches and 36.6 inches, meaning both rows are large enough to fit adult passengers.
Despite the extra size, the Wagoneer L and Grand Wagoneer L drop the V-8s, which powers the ideal models for a new “Hurricane” twin-turbo 3.0-liter Inline-6. On the Wagoneer L it produces 420 hp and 468 lb-ft of torque, while the Grand Wagoneer L gets a high-output version that punches outputs up to 510 hp and 500 lb-ft. An eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive standard, three different four-wheel drive systems are also available. Towing capacity is at 10,000 pounds, just like the standard model. Fuel economy ratings have not yet been given, but Zip says they should return 1-2 combined mpg improvements compared to the V-8.
The 2022 Grand Wagner will be offered in limited quantities with the more powerful 6-cylinder, now with orders available at dealerships.
