Goa Law and Justice Minister Nilesh Cabral recently said people should buy electric cars and electric bikes. Moreover, we can still buy petrol and diesel where Sri Lanka is going bankrupt. He said this when asked about the increase in fuel prices. Petrol is currently being sold in Goa at Rs. 106 per liter where the price of diesel is Rs. 97 per liter.
“Look what is happening today,” he said. We at least get petrol-diesel, see what is happening in Sri Lanka. We need to understand what the situation is. I also think the price of petrol should be 50 rupees. But in practice it cannot be. We can buy petrol and diesel, unlike the people of Sri Lanka who have gone bankrupt. “
Nilesh insisted that the government was already subsidizing electric vehicles. By using EVs, we will protect the environment from pollution of petrol and diesel vehicles. Moreover, some money will be saved.

The minister said, “So we have to change ourselves. I would advise people to buy electric vehicles and start moving with them so that you can save your money and also your environment. They say prices have gone up but they are still buying petrol. They must be in a position to buy an e-bike, ”he said.
Problems with EV
Electric vehicles seem like a good proposition but we have some problems with them when we consider their use in India.
Charging infrastructure
India lacks infrastructure charges. Yes, more charging stations are being opened but they are still not enough. Moreover, not all of them are working 100% which is the cause of human inconvenience. Moreover, even homes lack proper charging infrastructure. You need strong MCB, heavy wiring and earthing to install the home charger.
Charging time and range concerns
Significantly longer charging time than refueling petrol. To charge an electric car you have to wait a few hours where refueling the petrol tank can be done within minutes. Then there are range concerns. You can find so many petrol pumps that you can go anywhere and refill petrol which is not the case with electric vehicles. The driving range of electric vehicles is limited due to the size of the battery. Moreover, small things such as passenger weight, air conditioning and other electrical, car uphill or downhill can affect the driving range.
Reliability
Recently, we have seen many electric scooters suddenly burst into flames. Such incidents are rare in the case of internal-combustion-powered vehicles. Moreover, electric fires are more dangerous because they are burning due to chemical reactions. So, you can’t just use a fire extinguisher because it won’t work. You need to use plenty of water to put out the electric fire.
Battery replacement is expensive
Yes, you can buy an electric car with subsidy However, over time the health of the battery deteriorates. For this reason, there will come a time when you will have to replace the whole battery pack which will be very expensive.
