BMW Brazil has unveiled another special version of the X4 M40i to follow last month’s standalone version. The new M Sport version has a matte paint and 21-inch measuring dual-tone alloy wheels courtesy of its Frozen Deep Gray finish. To sweeten the pot, additional visual changes include a carbon fiber side mirror cap and a glossy black kidney grill.
The X4 M40i M Sport Edition is decorated with more red brake calipers and standard laser headlights. As an M performance version, the Coupe-SUV boasts a more aggressive body with wide air intake as well as prominent dual exhaust tips. In terms of technology, it gets the iDrive 7 with a pair of 12.3-inch screens with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
There are no mechanical changes under the hood, so the M Sport Edition has the same inline-six engine with 387 hp and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) taps. The turbocharged 3.0-liter mill enables the X4 M40i to reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km / h) in four and a half seconds. Flat out, it is about to reach an electronically controlled top speed of 155 mph (250 km / h).
The M Sport version is about extra style
Needless to say, the X4 under the M performance camouflage is strictly an all-wheel-drive affair. The xDrive is powered by an eight-speed automatic transmission. The rear pedals on the steering wheel allow the driver to go through the gears manually. BMW Brazil mentioned that the M Sport version has a driving assistant, parking assistant plus and a surround view system.
Although the X3 M40i and X4 M40i entered production at the Araquari factory in Brazil a month ago, the M Sport version will not be manufactured there. Due to its personal paint work, the performance crossover must be made in Spartanburg. Only 30 units are going to Brazil where the car comes bundled with BMW Service Inclusive Plus.
40,000 kilometers (24,850 miles) for the first three years – whichever comes first – BMW takes care of maintenance. We are talking about engine oil and oil filters, vehicle inspection and brake fluid replacement. BSIP also covers spark plugs, AC filters and clutch replacement if necessary.
