German automaker BMW recently teased the brand’s upcoming flagship sedan i7. The 7-series all-electric iteration will debut on April 20 at the Beijing Auto Show.
BMW has also announced that it will unveil the next generation of its flagship luxury sedan-7 series, along with the i7, at the Beijing International Automotive Show. The carmaker claims that the i7 will be able to provide a range of more than 600 kilometers on a single charge.
“The new BMW 7 Series is absolutely glowing in every way. Unlike any other model, the BMW 7 Series is BMW’s innovative force, “said Frank Weber, a member of the BMW AG for Development’s Board of Management. “The all-electric BMW i7 is the most powerful BMW 7 series. It combines the best driving experience with the ultimate digital experience. This makes it an ideal vehicle for forward-thinking, responsible decision-makers and avant-garde pioneers, “he added.
From the pictures published by BMW we can see that in the upcoming i7, the twin round headlights and the characteristic design elements of the BMW grille have been completely redesigned to achieve a modern and distinctive look. Some of the i7’s special design statements are the exclusive crystal glass top light material and the illuminated contour of the kidney grille.
BMW also provided some insights into the cabin of the flagship all-electric sedan with the photos released. The interior of the i7 has a curved display, along with a new type of lighting and function strip on the instrument panel and BMW that refers to the doors as “interaction bars”. It is a part of the ambient light and also has integrated control buttons. The i7 will also get the latest generation of the company-owned iDrive operating system with the new My Mode. My modes enable the driver to customize the driving features of the vehicle and the internal environment precisely. It will also feature the newly developed Sky Lounge panoramic glass that comes with LED light threads that can be adjusted individually.
Like the other 7 series, the i7 and rear passengers will focus on maximum comfort. The model will set a new entertainment standard for passengers by providing a unique cinematic experience. The i7 will be equipped with a BMW theater screen, which moves away from the roof liner and is a super-wide 31-inch screen. The 32: 9 panoramic display format and 8K streaming resolution will offer a variety of streaming offers to the rear seat occupants.
So far the company has not shared any more details about the upcoming model drivetrain but we believe that it will be equipped with a 120kWh battery pack. It is also expected that the Line i7 variant will have a triple motor setup on top that can deliver a power output of 750 PS.
