Two of the more powerful sedans to perform under the radar this year are the Kia Stinger and the Genesis G70. Relevant rear-wheel-drive cars offer outstanding but impressive performance at a relative price and with a warranty and standard feature set that is much better than other premium or entry-level luxury vehicles.
Created by the famous German auto designer Peter Schreier, the two models share chassis, powertrain and other mechanical. For 2022, after nearly five years on the market, brands are segregating the shared DNA of sedans to represent each other in Kia and Genesis, forming a distinct identity under their parent Hyundai Motor Group. From the outside, there is nothing wrong with either. The Stinger has a five-door fastback with full access to 60/40-split rear seats. While both of them have long noses and short overhangs suitable for their sport sedan roots, the G70 is a more traditional sedan with a trunk. Its large crest-shaped grille and slim LED headlights carry the Genesis brand, split by daytime running light, and it’s more honest for side intakes than taking the Fox hood on the Stinger.
